Geotechnical Monitoring 2026

Safer Operations with TeAM Monitoring Solution in Geothermal Areas

The Kamojang Geothermal Area, operated by PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), is a vital hub for Indonesia’s renewable energy. However, the terrain presents significant geohazard risks, with volcanic soil and steep slopes reaching up to 45 degrees. Following landslide events in the early 2020s and minor slope failures recorded in 2025, protecting high-pressure geothermal pipelines and infrastructure has become the highest priority for operational continuity.

Integrated Solutions by PT Telematika Aset Monitoring (TeAM)

To mitigate these risks, PT Telematika Aset Monitoring (TeAM) implemented a comprehensive Geohazard Monitoring System across 14 strategic locations within the Kamojang field. Despite the challenging field conditions—including remote access and the need for complex cable routing of up to 130 meters—the project was executed with precision and a high commitment to safety.

Real-time Geotechnical Monitoring using Rotary Wire Extensometer, Tiltmeter, Data Logger, and dashboard remote monitoring using Trimble 4D Control Server

Advanced Technology Stack:

  • 12 Units of Geo-XW 100 Rotary Wire Extensometers: Specifically used to track deep-seated ground displacement with high accuracy.

  • 2 Units of Tiltmeters: Deployed to measure slope inclination and detect the slightest angular movements that indicate instability.

  • Starlink Satellite Connectivity: Ensures that critical data is transmitted in real-time without interruption, even in the most remote areas.

  • Trimble 4D Control (T4D) Dashboard: Provides a centralized platform for real-time visualization, automated alerts, and deep-dive analytics.

Project Impact and Safety Excellence

By providing real-time insights into ground stability, this system empowers PGE Kamojang to make data-driven decisions and respond proactively to potential threats. TeAM’s commitment to quality and safety was further validated by an exceptional HSSE evaluation score of 93.59 out of 100.

As we move through 2026, this monitoring infrastructure stands as a benchmark for safety in the geothermal industry, ensuring that green energy production remains uninterrupted and personnel stay protected.
